I’d been struggling for a long time with D/s trauma from my past, and I had never felt safe enough to talk fuly about it with anyone. I felt so ashamed, like this was something that was only acceptable to talk about in hushed whispers with close friends. I even went so far as to hide the true extent of my emotional pain from my doctor because I was too embarrassed.
That all changed when I decided to try Better Help’s trauma therapy sessions. It was such a relief to be able to finally sit down with someone who specialized in understanding and treating traumatic experiences - and in complete confidentiality! It felt like a weight had been lifted off of me when I first spoke openly and honestly with my therapist.
Our sessions were always relaxed but focused, allowing me the open space to have conversations about the subjects that made me uncomfortable, yet ultimately made me feel seen and validated as a person. Talking through the intense emotions that were causing me great distress fully opened my eyes to how much better I could feel once those issues were unloaded from my shoulders.
The healing process didn’t happen overnight; it required patience and consistent effort on both of our parts. Through regular communication, support and guidance from my therapist, however, I am now living without the lingering effects of PTSD, anxiety, depression & stress due entirely to Better Help trauma therapy sessions. To put it simply: If you’re going through any form of past trauma and don’t feel comfortable speaking with your regular doctor about them, then Better Help is definitely worth considering!
