Wondering if zulresso could help when depression wont let up

I’ve been wondering about Zulresso because this depression just won’t let up. I’ve tried the usual things and still feel stuck in the same heavy place, with low energy, no interest in much, and days that blur together. I know it’s mainly discussed for postpartum depression, so I’m not even sure whether it would make sense in my situation.

The idea of an IV treatment and staying monitored for that long sounds intense, but I’m getting tired of waiting for something to finally work. I’d want to understand the risks, how long any benefit might last, and whether people usually continue other medication afterward.

Has anyone here looked into Zulresso for depression that hasn’t responded to standard treatment?

George, I’d be cautious about assuming Zulresso would apply here since it’s approved specifically for postpartum depression. The IV monitoring and possible sedation would make me want a psychiatrist who knows the treatment to explain whether there’s any reasonable off-label use in your case.

I’d ask about other options with evidence for treatment-resistant depression too, including whether a medication change, augmentation, TMS, or ketamine-based treatment fits your situation. Also ask what happens after the infusion, since a short-term lift may still need a longer-term plan. Feeling stuck like this is exhausting, but you don’t have to sort through the risks and alternatives by yourself.

The monitored IV setup would make me pause too, especially with sedation and the need to plan for what happens afterward. Since Zulresso is approved for postpartum depression, I’d want a psychiatrist to be very clear about whether there’s any evidence or reasonable off-label use for your situation.

I’d also ask about TMS, ketamine-based treatment, or medication augmentation, along with how long benefits typically last and what maintenance would involve. A treatment that might help briefly still needs a longer-term plan. Since the depression is affecting your energy and daily life this much, I’d bring up all of it at one appointment rather than focusing on Zulresso alone.
