When working out becomes too much for me

This makes me think about my own experiences with working out and how something that initially feels empowering can sometimes tip into something more overwhelming. I’ve always been a fan of staying active, but there have been moments when my workouts started to feel less like a healthy routine and more like an obligation.

I remember a time when I was pushing myself to hit the gym every single day, convinced that if I didn’t, I’d somehow be falling behind. At first, I loved the rush of endorphins and the progress I saw. But then I noticed I was constantly fatigued, and honestly, a bit irritable. It became this cycle where I felt like I had to work out harder to feel good about myself, but instead, it just drained my energy and left me feeling anxious if I missed a session.

It’s interesting how we can fall into that trap, right? I started questioning why I was doing it. Was it for health, for stress relief, or was I just trying to maintain a certain image? Finding balance has been a journey for me. I’ve learned to embrace rest days and listen to my body more. It’s okay to take a step back and focus on other aspects of life, too.

I’ve also started incorporating activities that are joyful rather than just strenuous. Hiking with friends or taking a dance class has reminded me that movement can be fun, not just a chore. And you know what? It feels great to shift my mindset from “I have to” to “I want to.”

I’d love to hear if anyone else has experienced this kind of struggle. How do you find that balance? What do you do when your passion for fitness starts to feel like a burden? Let’s support each other in finding that sweet spot where working out feels good and healthy, not stressful!
