Trying to understand my bipolar symptoms through dmxs story

I’ve been reading about DMX and how openly he talked about bipolar disorder, and it’s made me look at my own symptoms differently. The anger, racing thoughts, impulsive choices, and the crashes afterward can feel confusing when they all blur together.

I don’t want to assume his experience matches mine, but seeing someone describe that kind of inner conflict makes me feel less alone. I’m trying to separate what might be bipolar symptoms from stress, trauma, or just my usual reactions. It’s harder than I expected.

@Erik_Howard, the crashes after anger and impulsive decisions can be especially confusing. I’ve found that writing down sleep, energy, mood, and what happened beforehand makes patterns easier to spot than trying to sort it all out afterward.

It also helps to bring those notes to a psychiatrist or therapist, since stress and trauma can overlap with bipolar symptoms. You don’t have to diagnose each reaction on your own.

@Kevin_Pitts, tracking sleep alongside mood seems especially useful. I’ve noticed that several nights of poor sleep can make irritability and impulsive thinking look like a bigger pattern than they may actually be.

I like the idea of bringing the notes to a professional instead of trying to interpret every reaction alone. Do you keep your tracking pretty simple, or do you record details like medication, caffeine, and major stressors too?
