Lately I’ve been wondering if my depression has moved past the point of just having a rough spell. I’m sleeping badly, barely interested in food, and small tasks feel weirdly huge. Answering messages or taking a shower can turn into something I keep putting off for hours.
The part that worries me most is how flat everything feels. I’m not always crying or obviously upset. Sometimes I just feel disconnected, like I’m watching myself go through the day without really being there. Even things I normally care about don’t seem worth the effort.
I’ve had dark thoughts, though I’m trying not to brush them off or pretend they’re just a side effect of being tired. I’m thinking about contacting a doctor or therapist instead of waiting until this gets even worse. If I might hurt myself or can’t stay safe, I’ll call emergency services or a crisis line right away.
How do you tell when depression has become severe enough that you shouldn’t handle it alone?
