Trying to stop comparing my eating to eugenia cooney's diet

I’ve been trying to stop comparing my eating to Eugenia Cooney’s diet, but it keeps getting into my head. Her appearance is constantly discussed online, and I catch myself judging my own meals against what I imagine she eats. That isn’t helpful, and I know social media leaves out most of the real picture.

I’m trying to focus on eating regularly and paying attention to how I actually feel, instead of using someone else’s body as a standard. Some days I do better than others. I may take a break from related videos and posts for a while, since they seem to make the comparisons worse.

Wendy, taking a break from those videos sounds like a sensible move. I’ve had to remind myself that online content can turn a person’s body into a measuring stick, even when I never get the full story behind it.

Paying attention to regular meals and how you feel afterward seems much more useful than trying to guess what somebody else eats. On rough days, getting back to the next meal is enough. No need to make it a test.

@Amy_James, the “next meal is enough” part is something I’ve had to keep coming back to. If I treat one meal like a test, it usually turns into a whole day of judging myself.

The body-as-a-measuring-stick thing is sneaky too. I’ve muted accounts before and noticed I had more room in my head for what I was actually feeling, instead of trying to do mental maths about somebody else’s eating. It doesn’t fix everything, but it takes the volume down a bit.
