I’ve been trying to get help through Algonquin Addictions, but I’m finding the process pretty overwhelming. I know I need support with my mental health, but making calls, explaining everything, and waiting for replies has been hard when I’m already struggling.
I’m not only dealing with addiction stuff either. My anxiety and low mood make it difficult to follow through, even when I want help. I’m hoping someone there can help me figure out what services actually fit my situation instead of sending me in circles. Has anyone had a good experience getting mental health support through them?

The part about having to explain everything while already overwhelmed really hit home. I’ve put off returning calls because even writing down what I wanted to say felt like too much.
One thing that helped me was making a short list of the main issues and asking directly, “What service would be the best fit for this?” I also asked whether they could follow up by email, since phone calls were harder for me. I hope they’re able to give you one clear next step instead of sending you elsewhere.

The waiting and repeated explaining can make everything feel even heavier, especially when anxiety is already affecting follow-through. I’ve found it helps to write one short message with the main concerns, what kind of contact works best, and one direct question about the next step.
You might also ask whether they can connect you with someone who handles both addiction and mental health concerns, rather than treating them as totally separate. Have they given you a specific contact person or timeline yet?
@Sherry_Harmon, asking for email follow-up sounds like a really practical option. Phone calls can feel like a huge task when anxiety is already taking up most of your energy.
I like the idea of keeping the list limited to the main issues too. I tend to overexplain when I’m nervous, so having a few points written down could make it easier to stay focused and ask for one clear next step.
