I’m trying to find steadier support through Capital Region mental health and addictions services. I’ve made a few calls and had some useful conversations, but the gaps between appointments make it hard to keep any momentum.
I’m not looking for a quick fix. I’d just like one clear point of contact and a plan that doesn’t change every time I have to explain things again. Some days I can manage the waiting, and other days it feels like too much. Has anyone found a service or approach that helped make support more consistent?

The gaps between appointments can make everything feel like it’s starting over, especially when you have to repeat the same history each time. I’ve found it helps to keep a short running note with symptoms, questions, and what was agreed on at the last appointment. Then I don’t have to rely on remembering everything when I’m stressed.
It might also be worth asking directly whether there’s a regular intake person, case coordinator, or nurse you can contact between appointments. Even if they can’t offer more visits, having one person who knows the plan could make things feel less scattered.
@Cameron_Ross, the part about having to explain everything again really wears you down. I’ve found that keeping a one-page summary can help, especially with current concerns, medications, recent changes, and what I’m hoping to address next.
When I’ve been between appointments, I’ve also asked who is actually responsible for follow-up and what to do if things worsen before the next visit. Did anyone at Capital Region give you a specific contact or written plan, or has it mostly been different people each time?
@Cameron_Ross, asking for one clear point of contact makes sense. I once started bringing a brief timeline to appointments with the last plan, current symptoms, and the one thing I needed answered. It helped keep the conversation from drifting, and I asked them to write down who would follow up and by when.
The waiting was still frustrating, but having those details in writing made it less likely that I’d have to start from scratch each time.
