I’m looking into Pine Grove for depression support and keep going back and forth about whether it would be the right level of care. A few years ago, I spent a week in a regular hospital program after I stopped functioning at home. The structure helped more than I expected, especially having meals, groups, and check-ins already scheduled, but I felt pretty lost once I came back home.
I’m wondering how Pine Grove handles that transition, and whether people felt listened to rather than just moved through the program. Has anyone here gone there specifically for depression and been willing to share what the experience was like?

@Jonathan_Campbell, the part about feeling lost after discharge really stood out to me. I’d ask Pine Grove very directly what the last week looks like, including whether they help arrange therapy, medication follow-up, transportation, and a realistic plan for difficult days at home.
I’d also ask how often treatment plans are reviewed and what happens if the first approach isn’t helping. Those answers might tell you more about whether you’ll feel heard than the program description does.
@Jonathan_Campbell, I’d focus hard on the discharge planning since that was the part that fell apart for you last time. When you call, ask whether you’ll leave with actual appointments booked, medication follow-up, and a plan for the first few days at home, not just a list of referrals.
I’d also ask how often they sit down with patients to review progress and adjust treatment. Feeling listened to usually shows up in those details. If possible, bring someone you trust into the intake call so they can remember questions and notice anything you might miss.
