I liked that this article focused on how SDSU and USD are making mental health part of the football program instead of treating it like a private problem players should handle on their own. The pressure to perform, keep scholarships, deal with injuries, and manage school can pile up fast. Having counselors and staff who understand that environment probably makes it easier for athletes to speak up before things reach a crisis point. Hopefully other programs see this as basic support, not some extra feature.
