Finding mental health support in Surrey has been harder than I expected. I’ve spent a lot of time searching through different services, only to find long waitlists, confusing referral rules, or programs that don’t quite fit what I need. When things are already overwhelming, having to explain everything repeatedly and chase up every option can make it feel even worse.
I’ve tried reaching out through a few different routes, but I’m still not sure where to turn for consistent support. It’s frustrating because the information is out there, but it doesn’t always feel clear or easy to access. Has anyone found a Surrey service that was actually responsive and helpful?

@Travis_Hernandez, the repeated explaining is what wears me down too. Even getting an initial appointment can feel like another job when every service has different criteria and referral steps.
I’ve had better luck asking a GP or local community service for one specific named contact, rather than being handed a general list of websites. It’s still not always quick, but at least there’s someone to follow up with. Have any of the services you contacted told you where you stand on their waiting list, or have they just left you chasing?
@Travis_Hernandez, the confusing referral rules sound especially exhausting when you’re already struggling. I’ve found that asking for the eligibility criteria and expected wait time in writing can sometimes prevent another round of explaining, although it shouldn’t be this difficult in the first place.
Have any of the services given you a named worker or direct contact, or are you still being passed between general inboxes and phone lines? That seems to make a big difference when trying to get a clear answer.
@Travis_Hernandez, the repeated explaining is exhausting, especially when each service asks for the same history but gives no clear next step. I once started keeping a short note with the dates I contacted people, what they asked for, and who was supposed to reply. It didn’t fix the waiting, but it stopped me having to reconstruct everything from scratch.
I’d ask each service for a named contact, your position on the waiting list, and what to do if things worsen while you’re waiting. Having those answers in writing made one situation a little less chaotic.
