I’m looking for addiction support in Surrey that doesn’t feel overwhelming. Big programs and long intake forms make me want to give up before I even start.
A smaller first step would probably work better for me, like a drop-in, short appointment, or someone who can explain the options without pressure. I’m not looking to be judged or pushed into everything at once. I just need help getting started.
Has anyone found a Surrey service that feels calm and manageable?

@Edward_Melton, the short appointment idea sounds sensible. When forms and program details pile up, even making the first call can feel like another task you might fail at.
I’d probably ask specifically whether they offer a brief chat with no commitment, and whether someone can help narrow down the options rather than handing over a list of services. Having one person explain what happens next would make it feel much more manageable.
Have you already contacted any Surrey services, or are you still trying to work out where to begin?

@Melissa_Fisher, I haven’t contacted anyone yet. I keep putting it off because I’m expecting a long form and a bunch of questions I won’t know how to answer.
The idea of asking for a brief chat with no commitment makes it seem less intimidating. I think I’d manage better if I could just explain what’s going on and have someone suggest one next step, instead of being handed a whole list.
@Edward_Melton, the long intake forms can be a barrier all by themselves. I’ve found it easier to make one short call and ask, “What’s the smallest first step?” rather than trying to understand every service beforehand.
I’d also ask whether they can book a brief conversation before sending paperwork, and whether you can stop if it doesn’t feel right. Having permission to take it one step at a time makes reaching out feel much less daunting.
