Sometimes my mind goes on overdrive with these compulsions

You know, there are days when my mind just seems to go into overdrive, and it can feel pretty overwhelming. I find myself caught in these compulsive thoughts, and it’s like I’m on a never-ending loop. It’s strange, right? One moment, I’ll be completely focused on something, and the next, my brain is racing through a checklist of things I feel I need to do—almost like I’m trying to control everything around me.

For me, it often starts with a simple thought. Maybe it’s about making sure I locked the door or whether I turned off the stove. Even if I know I’ve done it, that nagging doubt will creep in, pulling me back. It’s almost as if I’m compelled to check again and again, despite the rational part of my brain saying, “Relax, it’s fine!” Sometimes, I feel like I’m being pulled in two different directions—my logical self versus this anxious compulsion that just won’t let go.

I’ve been trying to find ways to deal with this. It’s not always easy, but I’ve found that talking about it helps. Sharing these experiences with friends, or even just journaling my thoughts, has been a relief. It allows me to step outside of the chaos in my head and really look at what’s going on. Plus, it reminds me that I’m not alone in this struggle.

I wonder if others experience this too. How do you cope when your mind feels like it’s racing? Have you found any techniques or strategies that help you ground yourself when those compulsive thoughts take over? I’d love to hear what’s worked for you!
