Social media makes me feel less than

I’ve been reflecting a lot lately on how social media affects my mood and sense of self-worth. It’s such a mixed bag, isn’t it? I find myself scrolling through feeds filled with perfect vacation photos, beautifully curated homes, and seemingly flawless lives. And while I love seeing what my friends are up to, I can’t help but feel this nagging sense of inadequacy creeping in.

Isn’t it funny how just a few swipes can shift your perspective so dramatically? I mean, one moment I’m feeling okay, maybe even proud of my little achievements, and the next, I see someone’s highlight reel and think, “Wow, I wish I had that.” It’s almost like I forget that what I’m seeing is just a snapshot—a carefully selected moment that doesn’t show the full picture.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone else feels this way. Do you ever catch yourself comparing your life to what you see online? And it’s not just about material things; it can be about relationships, career success, or even parenting. The pressure to present ourselves in a certain light can be overwhelming. I’ve started questioning the time I spend on these platforms. Is it really worth it if I’m left feeling “less than”?

I’ve tried to curate my feed to focus on accounts that inspire me or make me laugh instead. That helps a bit, but it’s still a constant effort to remind myself that everyone has their struggles, even if they don’t post about them.

I’d love to hear how others navigate this. Have you found any strategies that help? Or do you just take breaks from social media when it gets too much? I think there’s so much value in sharing our experiences, especially in a world that often feels like it’s all about showing off the best moments.
