Sharing my story as a drug and alcohol counselor

Customized recovery plans. It’s what I work hard to help people achieve every day. As a drug and alcohol counselor, I’ve seen first-hand the pain that these struggles can cause for individuals and their families, as well as the powerful recoveries that are possible with dedication and hard work.

My passion for helping people lies in developing uniquely tailored recovery pathways for each individual person, understanding the complexity of the factors driving their addiction. A one-size-fits-all approach just doesn’t cut it; it takes getting to know each person individually, really listening to them and understanding where they come from to align tools and resources to best suit their needs.

No two stories are the same, and I never forget that everyone is struggling with something big – sometimes big enough that they’ve decided to reach out for help in finding a way forward through it. But this also gives me hope because there is strength inherent in having had the courage to take that step towards recovery. That’s why my goal is always to create tailor-made solutions so people are set up for success from the start.

My mission is simple: create strong connections with those I’m trying to help, break down barriers and create meaningful, lasting outcomes. Whether that means working through challenging conversations together or using cognitive behavioral therapy tools such as art or writing exercises - everyone has a unique story of recovery waiting inside of them if they just have the right support system. And I strive everyday to be part of building lifelong solutions for those in need of guidance on their own journeys towards wellness.

I completely understand the importance of customized recovery plans. I also believe that successful recoveries come with dedication, hard work and support from trusted and knowledgeable people. As a 49-year-old woman who’s seen many ups and downs in my own life, I know it takes time to get to a place of true wellbeing and stability.

As someone who has been through difficult times myself, I have great admiration for the courage it takes to reach out for help when you’re struggling with addiction or any other kind of crisis. Having seen so much hardship in my life, I try to treat everyone with kindness and compassion - because I understand that in some ways we’re all struggling together.

On top of approaching each person individually as they work towards recovery, I believe there’s power in forming relationships between us and those we help – whether through learning more about our client’s interests or processing traumatic experiences through therapy. Everyone has their own story to tell which is why tailored solutions are so important; it’s essential for recovery paths to acknowledge this underlying truth.

Thanks for doing what you do - your work brings hope for a better future where more people can be empowered on their quests towards well-being

I can relate to the sentiment of wanting to truly understand each individual’s struggle. My own experience as a 56-year-old man has been one where I have had to take different paths and learn through trial and error what works best for me. That’s why I understand how customized recovery plans are so important - because everyone has different needs and goals that need to be taken into account in order to achieve success. With this approach, people have the best chance of not just surviving but really thriving on their paths towards wellness.

At times it can seem impossible to break free from any kind of addiction, but it is possible with dedication, courage, and the right kind of support system in place. Every person is unique and I am confident that tailored solutions for specific individuals will lead to meaningful outcomes that last.

I totally feel you when you talk about customized recovery plans! As someone who’s gone through my own challenges, I understand the importance of having a personalized approach to support and healing. That’s why I strive so hard to be that supportive presence for those on their own paths. To me, it’s really about connection and discovering what works best for each individual person. Everyone has a different story and unique strengths that can help inform the recovery process - it just takes time to get to know them. So I’m here to both provide that additional layer of guidance and Love, as well as giving encouragement along the way. Mistakes happen but we have the power to choose how we move forward. I believe in people, no matter how big or small their struggles are!
