Seeking help with dual diagnosis

I’m looking for advice and support from anyone else who is going through a similar experience. I was recently diagnosed with both an addiction and a mental health disorder, otherwise known as “dual diagnosis.” I don’t have any friends or family that I can talk to about it so I thought I would reach out here in the hopes of finding someone to relate to and gain insight from. The stress of managing two issues simultaneously is overwhelming at times but I’m determined to do whatever it takes to get through this and get better. If anyone else has gone through something similar, please let me know – your experience could make all the difference.

Hi there,

Thank you for being brave enough to open up about your difficulties. It takes real courage and strength to put yourself out there. I’m 21 too and can relate to feeling overwhelmed when life throws a lot of challenges at you.

No one should have to face these issues alone, so it’s really admirable that you’re reaching out here for support and advice. It might take some time but I’m sure that with the right help and support, you will make it through this. Having positive people around will be such an asset on this road to recovery.

I understand that it’s hard to find someone close who will understand what you’re going through, but if you keep looking, I’m sure you’ll find the right person. And in the meantime, know that we are here to help - no judgement or expectations - just a listening ear and some understanding.

Keep being strong!
Best wishes
