Reclaiming my life from OCD obsessions

.

I never thought I would be able to take control of my life again, after years of struggling with OCD obsessions. It has been a long road to get here and it hasn’t been easy, but the last few weeks have been some of the most freeing days of my life.

When I look back at myself 6 months ago, who I was then seems so far away from who I am now. Back then, living my daily life was almost impossible - my thoughts felt like they were controlling me instead of me controlling them. My world shrunk until there was no escape - no matter how hard I tried to fight it, the intrusive thoughts kept coming back again and again.

But now something inside me has shifted and changed for the better. Instead of being a slave to these obsessions, I’ve been reclaiming my independence day by day as I work on managing them effectively and letting go.

On my journey to freedom, I’ve learned loads about overcoming anxiety - from understanding triggers and building self-awareness to creating coping strategies that make me feel safe and in control when things get tough. There are still bad days sometimes when old habits come creeping in - but that doesn’t scare me anymore because now I know what works for me and how to ‘reset’ using tried and tested methods that have stood the test of time.

I’m not done on this journey yet but finally having some momentum is so empowering! Everyday feels a little bit brighter knowing that each step train will bring me closer to my goals: reclaiming my life from obsessive thoughts one day at a time!
