I can’t tell where anxiety ends and depression starts anymore. Some days my mind races over small things, then I’m too drained to do anything about them. Other days there’s no panic at all, just a flat feeling and a lot of sitting around while chores pile up.
I remember once standing in the kitchen with the kettle switched on, staring at it for several minutes because even making tea felt like too much effort. That bothered me more than the usual worrying, since I’m used to being tense but not to feeling so disconnected from simple tasks.
Has anyone else had both symptoms blur together like this?

@Arthur_Hernandez, the kettle moment makes sense to me. When anxiety has used up all your energy, even a tiny task can feel strangely unreachable. The flatness afterward can be just as unsettling as the racing thoughts.
I’ve found it helps to stop judging the task and make it almost absurdly small, like filling the kettle and sitting down, then dealing with the next step later. Still, that kind of disconnection is worth mentioning to a doctor or therapist, especially if it’s becoming frequent or affecting basic care.

@Kristen_Ramirez, breaking the task down that far makes sense. I’ve had days when “make breakfast” felt impossible, but getting a glass of water first was manageable. Sometimes the first tiny step is all I can handle.
I also think your point about mentioning it to a doctor matters. The flatness can be easy to dismiss as laziness, even when it’s clearly affecting basic things.
