Navigating Globalization: My Mental Health Story

In the era of globalization, my mental health has faced its own unique set of challenges. As an expat living a nomadic type life, I have had to confront a range of difficult emotions - from anxiety about the unfamiliar to depression at leaving beloved friends behind.

My journey towards mental well-being began with learning to accept and embrace uncertainty. Waking up with no concrete plans for the day forced me out of my comfort zone, and gave me a chance to explore new places that were powerful reminders that anything can happen. Although this lesson was tough at first, it eventually led me to feeling more comfortable taking risks as well as living boldly in spite of being far away from home.

In addition, I arrived at a better understanding of myself through engaging in self-reflection and actively trying out new activities while on the road. Through meditation, journaling and creating art, I was able to hone my sense of purpose - which relies heavily on creativity - by opening myself up to a myriad inspiring surroundings and experiences available around the world as part of this ever-evolving globalized system we all occupy today.

It’s been an enlightening process overcoming these mental health struggles but above all else valuable lessons about flexibility, perseverance and determination have come through.
