Navigating exam stress and keeping my sanity intact

This makes me think about how overwhelming exam season can feel. It’s like this invisible pressure builds up around me, and suddenly everything seems to hinge on these few hours in a classroom. It’s wild how much weight we put on our performance during exams, isn’t it?

I remember last year, I hit a point where I felt completely consumed by stress. I would sit down to study, and instead of focusing, my mind would race with all the “what ifs.” What if I forget everything? What if I don’t get the grade I want? It spiraled into a pretty tough cycle, and I realized I needed to find a way to break free from that.

One thing that really helped me was creating a study schedule. I know, I know—it’s not groundbreaking advice, but hear me out. By breaking my study materials into smaller, manageable chunks, I felt like I was in control. It took away that overwhelming feeling of having to know everything at once. Plus, I built in breaks! I had time to breathe, stretch, or even have a little dance party to clear my head.

Talking about it with friends also made a huge difference. We formed this little study group where we could share our struggles and celebrate our wins, no matter how small. It was comforting to know I wasn’t alone in feeling the pressure. Honestly, just saying it out loud helped me release some of that tension.

I also started practicing mindfulness a bit more. Even just a few minutes of deep breathing or meditation before diving into study sessions helped me calm my racing thoughts. I found that taking a step back, even briefly, made me more focused and less anxious.

But I’m curious—what do you all do to manage that exam stress? I’d love to hear your tips or experiences. It’s so important to support each other through this, especially during such a high-pressure time.
