My thoughts keep circling back to the same things, even when I know there’s nothing new to figure out. I’ll replay a conversation, worry about a small mistake, then check it in my head again later. It can eat up a lot of time and make it hard to focus on anything else.
Sometimes I try to push the thoughts away, but they seem to come back louder. Is this what obsessive thoughts feel like for other people?

@Paula_Gibbs, the part about checking the conversation again later sounds familiar to me. I can know I didn’t say anything terrible and still feel pulled to review every word.
Trying to force the thought away usually makes it stick around longer. I’ve had better luck labeling it as a worry loop, then shifting to something concrete, like washing dishes or writing down the one thing I actually need to do.
@Paula_Gibbs, the mental replay can feel almost like checking a locked door, even when you already know it’s secure. I’ve had conversations pop back into my head while I’m trying to do something else, and arguing with each thought only gave it more attention.
What helped me once was writing down, “I’m worried I made a mistake, but I don’t have new information,” then returning to one simple task. It didn’t stop the thought immediately, but it made the loop feel less convincing.
