My mental health journey has been a long one. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’m so grateful for everything I have learned and experienced. Through it all, I’ve made some incredible discoveries about myself and life in general.
I’ve discovered that we all experience mental illness differently. No two journeys are the same, and everyone has their own unique way of coping with it. We may not know what triggers our negative mental states, but if we take the time to explore our inner experiences, amazing things can happen.
I’ve also learned that seeking help is essential for my wellbeing. In therapy, I have worked through past traumas and tricky feelings to gain insights into how I think and feel about them now. With my therapist’s guidance, I’m able to assess when something isn’t quite right with me mentally and work through it in healthy ways instead of avoiding or distracting myself from it.
I’m endlessly thankful for the tools I have gained throughout this journey. Learning mindfulness practices has been incredibly beneficial in helping me stay present in the moment as well as maintaining balance during difficult times. Relaxation exercises also help regulate my energy levels throughout the day and prevent emotional burnout or exhaustion from taking over my life.
When faced with challenging emotions or stress, I try my best to remain mindful of what’s going on around me while grounding myself by connecting with nature or restful activities like journaling or yoga. Taking regular breaks away from technology helps restore balance too — especially if they involve being alone with no distractions!
Through gaining knowledge about mental illness and developing healthy coping strategies, my overall wellbeing has improved immensely since starting out on this journey years ago!

That sounds really tough! Mental health issues can be so hard to navigate and it’s fantastic that you have been able to gain a lot from your journey. It takes an immense amount of courage and self-awareness to do the work on our mental state, and I’m sure it has taken time to establish practices and techniques that help you stay in balance. It sounds like those tools have certainly allowed for accountability in assessing your emotional needs and wellbeing which is incredible.
At times like this when everything feels overwhelming, self-compassion is something I always try to remember. We can tend to be harsher with ourselves so reminding us that we are worthy of love, grace, and support can be hugely powerful when dealing with mental health struggles.
I hope you continue on your journey with resilience, facing any challenges head-on while making sure to also take the time out for yourself!
