When I was first diagnosed with an eating disorder, it felt like the world was crumbling around me. I never expected that something like this would happen to me. Even though I had been struggling with disordered eating for years, I believed that if only I had better willpower, I could somehow make it go away.
But when my mental and physical health took a toll and family members began to express their concerns, I finally recognized that it was much more than just bad eating habits. A few months later, a physician confirmed my diagnosis of anorexia nervosa and recommended treatment at the Maudsley Clinic.
The clinic program taught helpful lessons on proper nutrition and understanding my emotional triggers in order to gradually adopt healthier habits. With the support of qualified practitioners and my family by my side, I slowly began to take small steps back to recovery. And although it wasn’t an easy journey, making a full recovery far outweighed any struggles along the way.
I’m thankful for the care and guidance from the professionals at Maudsley who provided valuable insight through our mutual collaboration in every step of my treatment plan for overcoming anorexia nervosa. Looking back now at all that has been achieved in such a short time since beginning therapy gives me hope for what lies ahead.
