Small worries can turn into full rituals for me before I even realize what’s happening. I’ll notice a tiny possibility, like maybe I forgot something or handled something wrong, and then my brain starts demanding a check, a replay, or some exact little routine to make the feeling go away.
The frustrating part is that I usually know the ritual isn’t really solving anything. It gives me a few minutes of relief, then the doubt comes back with a slightly different angle. Sometimes I try to resist, but that can make the worry feel louder, so I end up doing the ritual just to get through the moment.
Lately I’ve been trying to pause and label it as a worry instead of treating it like an emergency. I’m not great at it yet, and some days I still get pulled in. But I’m starting to see that the problem isn’t the small worry itself. It’s the way my brain turns uncertainty into a demand for certainty.
