My antidepressant dose isn't working - seeking help

I’ve been struggling with my mental health for a while, and was prescribed antidepressants in an attempt to manage symptoms. I recently increased my dosage, but I’m still feeling the same amount of distress and depression. I know it’s time to ask for help, so I’m reaching out because I don’t know what else to do. If anyone has any advice about finding support or other treatment options, please share. Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
I hear you and I’m sorry to hear that you are feeling a lot of distress and depression. I’m 41-years-old and also have personal experience with mental health issues, so I understand how tough it can be. My advice is to first talk openly about your issues with someone who will listen and be supportive - this could be a friend, family member, therapist or other professional. Doing so can help provide clarity around what resources and supports may be needed. Additionally, investigating different treatment options such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), may also help reduce some of the symptoms you are experiencing.
I’m sending lots of love your way - please don’t hesitate to reach out again if you need support!

Hi there,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re feeling overwhelmed and distressed. It’s admirable that you’re reaching out for help; I know it can be difficult but asking for support when you need it is really important.

It sounds like now might be a good time to speak with your doctor or another healthcare provider about additional treatment options. You could also look into counselling - speaking with a professional who has experience helping people in similar situations can be really beneficial.

We all have times in our lives when we need additional support, and don’t hesitate to reach out - it took me a long time to feel like I was able to get the help I needed, but it was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Take care.
