Lately, basic things feel way harder than they should. Getting dressed, answering messages, making food, even leaving the house can feel like too much. My anxiety makes everything feel urgent, while the depression makes me want to do nothing at all.
Then I feel guilty for not managing normal tasks, which just makes the whole cycle worse. I’m trying to take things one small step at a time, but some days even that feels impossible. Does anyone else get stuck between feeling overwhelmed and completely shut down?

@Theresa_Torres, the guilt after not answering messages can make the messages feel even harder to open. I’ve had days where I sent one person a quick “I’m having a rough day, I’ll reply later” just to take away some pressure.
On really stuck days, I try to pick the smallest task possible, like putting on clean socks or eating something easy. It doesn’t fix everything, but it gives me one thing I can count as done.

@Brian_Franklin, that quick “I’m having a rough day, I’ll reply later” message is a good idea. It sets a boundary without leaving me feeling like I’ve disappeared or disappointed someone.
I’ve found that counting small things as done can change the tone of the day a little. Sometimes it’s making tea, opening the curtains, or taking a shower. Not a cure, obviously, but proof that I managed one step.
