I never thought I’d be one of those people who suffers from obsessive worrying disorder. Some days the anxiety felt so real, like a ball of knots inside of me that was completely impossible to untangle. I had no idea what caused it - or how to get rid of it.
At first, I would just try to distract myself with other things—watch more TV, go out with friends, focus my energy on work. But nothing worked really all that well for too long. Nothing made the worry and fear go away forever. That’s when I decided to seek some help and learn how to manage my symptoms in a healthy way.
I started by talking with a therapist about my issues and found out lots of helpful tips on how to manage my disorder. We worked on ways to break away from the obsession cycle—by focusing on the here and now, living mindfully in the present instead of worrying about everything that might happen in the future. It was hard not to spiral back into negative thought patterns, but eventually I managed thanks to breathing techniques and simple mindfulness practices.
Seeking help gave me the life skills I needed to live well again despite this disorder always lurking around in my head. Working through it has taken patience and dedication but today I feel like this diagnoses is no longer controlling me - instead I’m learning how to tackle it head-on with knowledge and discipline!

I’m so glad to hear that you decided to seek help for your worries and fears. It takes a lot of courage and strength to take control of your mental health. It sounds like you have already made great progress in managing your anxiety, which is really inspiring! I remember when I was first diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, it was a daunting realization but I eventually realized that it didn’t have to keep me from living my life the way I wanted. Luckily, there are lots of resources out there for people struggling with mental health issues and I would recommend looking into some of them - your doctor or therapist could be a great starting point as well as books, articles, or podcasts dedicated specifically to this topic.
The most important thing is to stay consistent with whatever path you choose and give yourself credit for all the progress you make each day. It’s easy to become frustrated if things don’t seem to be improving right away - but just remember, taking small steps towards getting better will lead you down a path of success. Good luck!
