Living without antidepressants

Living without antidepressants has been one of the toughest things I’ve ever done. When I started my journey, I had no idea how hard it would be. Not only did I have to learn how to live with my mental health struggles without my medications, but I also had to find new ways of coping with the ups and downs of life.

Which also meant that I had to become vulnerable and willing to accept help when needed - both from people around me and in professional settings such as therapy or support groups. It’s been an emotional roller coaster, but it has enabled me to better understand myself, my triggers, and the underlying causes of my depression.

I’m by no means perfect now, far from it - but having gone through this journey has made me so much stronger as a person. Having awareness about our own minds is a superpower we can all benefit from - even if it’s not easy at the start. So for whoever needs encouragement; focus on your inner strength and find courage within yourself - you’ll get there eventually.
