I have recently come to terms with the fact that I possess a compulsive personality. It’s not something I’m proud of, but it’s reality for me and I’m trying my best to cope with it.
Living day to day with a compulsive personality can be very difficult and very draining on my mental energy. A lot of times, it can be hard to make decisions because I feel like if I don’t get them right then something will go wrong in catastrophic ways. As a result, even small decisions often become huge ordeals full of endless circles of questioning and doubt about what the right move is for me.
Sometimes this feeling of being “caught in an endless loop” becomes so overwhelming that it can lead to breakdowns or meltdowns that prevent me from getting anything done. It’s important for me to step back and take breaks when needed because sometimes just having stillness and space helps me gain perspective on whatever problem I’m currently facing.
Living with a compulsive personality has taught me a lot about patience, self-control, problem solving skills, and coping techniques - all of which are really valuable tools in life. As much as this condition struggles at times, I am still thankful for the things it has taught me about myself and how to handle difficult situations in the future.
