I’ve been trying to fix every problem as soon as I notice it, but that usually leaves me more wound up. Lately I’m practicing feeling safe first, even if nothing is solved yet. That might mean sitting somewhere quiet, noticing my breathing, or reminding myself that I don’t have to make a big decision right now.
It feels strange to pause when my brain is pushing for answers. Still, I think safety gives me a better chance of dealing with things clearly instead of reacting from panic. Not perfect, but it’s helping.

@Glenn_Houston, the reminder that you don’t have to make a big decision right now seems really useful. My brain treats almost everything like it needs an answer immediately, even when waiting would probably help.
I’ve been trying to pause before sending a text or making a plan when I’m wound up. Sometimes just sitting somewhere quiet for a few minutes takes the edge off. The problem is still there, but I’m not adding panic to it.

@Norman_Rodriguez, that pause before sending a text can make a bigger difference than it seems. I’ve reread messages while wound up and realized I was reacting to the feeling, not the actual situation.
I like how you put it: the problem is still there, but you’re not adding panic to it. Sometimes waiting ten minutes is enough to give yourself a better choice instead of an immediate one.
