Keeping my head above water during the pandemic

This makes me think about those early days of the pandemic, when everything felt like it was spinning out of control. I remember feeling a mix of anxiety and uncertainty, and honestly, it was hard to keep my head above water some days. I think we all had our moments, didn’t we?

One thing that really helped me was establishing a routine. At first, I resisted it, thinking I’d enjoy the freedom of not having to adhere to a schedule. But I quickly realized that having some structure made a huge difference. I started my mornings with a cup of coffee in the quiet of my kitchen, taking that time just for myself. It felt like a little gift every day.

I also leaned into creative outlets. Painting or doodling became my escape. I’m no Picasso, but picking up a brush and letting my thoughts flow onto the canvas was so therapeutic. It’s funny how just making something can lift your spirits, even if it feels messy or imperfect. I’d love to hear if anyone else found a creative outlet during this time!

Meditation and deep breathing exercises were also game-changers for me. It sounds cliché, but just taking a few minutes to breathe deeply and focus on the present really calmed my racing thoughts. I often found myself thinking, “Why didn’t I try this sooner?”

And let’s not forget the power of connection, even if it was through a screen. Zoom happy hours and virtual game nights became a lifeline. It was comforting to share laughs and frustrations with friends, even if we were miles apart. Did anyone else find new ways to connect with loved ones during this time?

Looking back, I realize that while the pandemic was challenging, it pushed me to discover strengths I didn’t know I had. I learned to be kinder to myself, to prioritize my mental health, and to find joy in the little things. So, what about you? What helped you stay afloat during these unprecedented times? I’m genuinely interested to hear your stories.
