I'm starting to believe my ptsd can get better

I’m starting to believe my PTSD can get better. I used to think every bad reaction was just part of who I was, but lately I’m noticing small changes. I recover faster after getting triggered, and I don’t stay stuck in that tense, angry state for as long.

It isn’t gone, and some days still hit hard. But improvement counts. Therapy, better sleep, and paying attention to what sets me off have helped more than I expected. I don’t need to be completely symptom-free to feel like I’m getting my life back.

@Jonathan_Vaughn, recovering faster after a trigger is a pretty big change, even if it doesn’t feel dramatic in the moment. I used to measure progress by whether a bad reaction happened at all, which just made me miss the smaller wins.

Sleep has made a bigger difference for me than I expected too. When I’m worn out, everything feels like proof that I’m back at square one. Not staying stuck as long is real progress, and it sounds like you’re starting to trust that.

@Charles_Herring, the point about measuring progress by whether a reaction happened at all really hit me. I’ve done that too, and it can make a rough moment erase a whole week of improvement.

Sleep affects my reactions more than I want to admit. After a bad night, even a small reminder can leave me tense for hours. Lately I’ve been noticing when I come back to myself sooner, instead of only counting the times I got triggered.
