How i learned to chill out my overthinking about everything

What stood out to me was how much power our minds can have over our daily lives. I used to be the queen of catastrophizing, turning the smallest worries into full-blown disasters. You know, that moment when you think about a simple presentation at work and suddenly you’re visualizing yourself tripping on stage, forgetting your words, and losing your job? Yep, that was me!

It took me a while, but I finally realized that my overthinking was like a runaway train. The more I let my mind spiral, the more it consumed my energy and joy. I started to notice how often I would leap to the worst conclusions without any real evidence. It was exhausting!

One day, I decided to try something different. I began to pause and really ask myself, “Is this thought based in reality?” It sounds simple, but it was a game-changer. I started keeping a little journal where I would write down my worries and then challenge them. For example, if I worried I’d mess up at work, I’d write down what the actual chances of that happening were and what I could do to prepare. This helped me see that many of my fears were just that—fears, not facts!

I also embraced mindfulness practices, which have been incredibly grounding. Taking a few minutes each day to focus on my breath or go for a walk in nature really helped clear my mind. It’s amazing how being present can shift your perspective.

And honestly, sharing these thoughts with friends has opened up so many conversations. I found out I’m not alone in this! It feels good to talk about these feelings, to realize that many of us struggle with overthinking. Sometimes, just knowing that someone else gets it can lift a huge weight off your shoulders.

How about you? Do you find yourself spiraling into worst-case scenarios? I’d love to hear how others cope with their anxious thoughts!
