Healing from Involuntary Commitment

As a 27-year-old woman who has experienced involuntary commitment trauma, I know how challenging it can be to process and heal from such an experience. It’s not easy to come to terms with the fact that you were not in control of your own circumstances. It’s okay to feel angry, hurt, and confused. What has helped me in my healing journey is seeking support from a therapist who understands trauma and its effects. Talking about my experience in a safe space has been incredibly healing. Additionally, practicing self-care and self-compassion has been vital in my recovery. It’s important to remember that healing is not linear, and it’s okay to take small steps towards recovery. You are not alone in this journey, and there is hope for healing and growth beyond the pain you are experiencing.
