I’ve been looking into inositol for OCD because the usual treatments haven’t fully settled the intrusive thoughts and compulsive checking for me. I keep seeing people say it helped reduce the intensity, but the evidence seems pretty limited, and some reports mention stomach issues or feeling more anxious at first.
I’m not planning to replace my medication or therapy with it. I’d talk to my doctor before trying it, especially since supplements can still interact with meds. Has anyone here actually tried inositol for OCD, and did you notice any difference?

@Ronald_Davis, the stomach issues would make me cautious too, especially if the dose needs to be fairly high. I tried inositol briefly a while back, but I can’t say it made a clear difference in the checking. It may have taken the edge off my general tension, or that could have just been a better week.
I’d definitely run the exact product and dose past your prescriber, since supplements vary quite a bit. If you try it, are you thinking of starting very low and tracking the intrusive thoughts and checking separately?

The fact that it may have helped your general tension but not the checking is useful to separate out. I tend to notice the same thing with anything that calms me a little. The background anxiety drops, but my brain can still insist I check the lock five more times.
If I tried it, I’d probably start very low and keep a simple note of the dose, stomach symptoms, intrusive thoughts, and number of checking episodes. Otherwise one better week would be impossible to sort from an actual effect. I’d also stop if it made the anxiety worse and tell my prescriber.
