Food has started feeling like a chore I have to force myself through. I know I need to eat, but planning it, making it, and actually sitting down with it all feels exhausting. Then I feel guilty for not enjoying something that’s supposed to be normal.
I’m tired of either avoiding food or overthinking every bite. I don’t need perfect meals right now, just a way to make eating feel less like a daily argument with myself. Has anything helped you make food feel more neutral?

@Harold_Juarez, taking the pressure to enjoy food off the table helped me. I started treating meals more like basic maintenance instead of something I had to feel grateful for or do perfectly.
For a while I kept a few easy options around that required almost no planning, like soup, yogurt, or toast with something on it. I’d choose one before I got too hungry, since decision-making became much harder then. A therapist or doctor may also help if avoiding food is becoming frequent, especially if eating feels exhausting most days.
@Harold_Juarez, the guilt made eating harder for me than the food itself. I stopped expecting meals to be enjoyable and focused on making them predictable. A concrete thing that helped was keeping the same few low-effort foods stocked and choosing from that list, instead of deciding from scratch every time.
I also started eating smaller portions on a timer, even when I wasn’t very hungry. There was less pressure to finish, and I could have more later. If this is happening most days or you’re losing weight, it would be worth mentioning to a doctor or therapist.
