As a 23-year-old woman dealing with bipolar disorder, I’ve found that creating art has been a saving grace for me. When I’m in the midst of a manic episode, painting allows me to channel my energy into something productive and beautiful. And during depressive episodes, the act of creating gives me a sense of purpose and accomplishment. My art has become a form of therapy for me, and it’s also a way for me to communicate my emotions when words fail me. I hope that by sharing my experience, I can inspire others to find their own creative outlet for managing their mental health struggles. Whether it’s painting, writing, or playing music, finding a way to express yourself can be incredibly healing. I encourage anyone else who may be struggling with bipolar disorder to explore the world of art and see the positive impact it can have on your wellbeing.
