Finding help for ptsd: my story

I have been dealing with PTSD for years, and I wasn’t sure where to turn when it first started. The symptoms seemed like they would never end and I felt totally helpless. It took a long time to find help and start feeling better, but that help was out there and I’m grateful for it.

I started by doing research online about post-traumatic stress disorder. That gave me more information about the condition and the treatments available. After that, I looked into different mental health professionals in my area who specialize in PTSD treatment.

I finally found a therapy program that worked for me. With guidance from my therapist, I was able to take concrete steps to start managing my symptoms instead of letting them control me. We talked a lot about what triggers my episodes and the techniques I can use when they arise, which helped greatly with how I felt on a daily basis.

If you are struggling with PTSD, please know that there is help available for you, too. Start by researching resources in your area, such as psychologists or support groups that are knowledgeable about PTSD to help start conversations where you feel comfortable discussing your symptoms and experiences without fear of judgement or criticism
