Feeling overwhelmed by anxiety stress and low mood

Lately I’ve been feeling overwhelmed by a mix of anxiety, stress, and low mood, and it’s hard to tell where one ends and the next starts. I’ll wake up already tense, spend the day worrying about things I can’t fix right now, then feel completely drained by evening. Even small tasks can feel weirdly huge.

The low mood makes me want to withdraw, but being alone with my thoughts usually makes the anxiety louder. I’ve been trying to keep up with basic routines, like eating properly, getting outside for a bit, and not staying in bed all day, but some days that takes most of what I have.

I’m planning to talk to someone about it instead of continuing to brush it off. Has anyone found one small thing that helps when everything feels piled up at once?

The part about getting outside even briefly stood out to me. When I’m really wound up, I don’t set a big goal. I’ll just walk to the end of the street or sit somewhere with a drink for ten minutes. It doesn’t fix the thoughts, but it gives my brain a change of setting.

I’ve also found it helps to pick one task that takes less than five minutes, like washing a cup or replying to one message. Finishing something small can make the rest feel slightly less impossible. Have you already arranged when you’ll talk to someone, or are you still trying to find the right person?

That ten-minute change of setting makes sense. I’ve noticed that staying indoors can make my thoughts feel like they’re closing in, while even a short walk gives me something concrete to pay attention to.

I haven’t arranged a conversation yet. I’ve been putting off choosing someone because I keep thinking I need to explain everything properly first. The five-minute task idea might help with that too, maybe just sending one message instead of trying to plan the whole conversation. Did you find it easier to start with someone you already knew, or did you go straight to a professional?

The “change of setting” idea is useful. I’ve had days where sitting outside with a coffee for a few minutes made the thoughts feel less boxed in, even though nothing was actually solved.

I’m still trying to find the right person, and I’ve been overthinking how to explain everything. Sending one simple message feels more manageable than preparing the whole story.
