Feeling low - my mental health journey

These last few weeks have been a bit of a struggle. I’ve been feeling down and out, like the weight of the world was on my shoulders, making it hard to even focus enough to do basic day-to-day tasks.

I wanted to avoid the ‘bottomless pit’ I felt opening up under my feet, so I found myself seeking help from a therapist and a counsellor. Having someone to talk to about what I’m going through has been immensely helpful in allowing me to be completely honest with myself about my feelings and emotions.

The classes that they suggested have helped, such as yoga and meditation. Even though it’s only been a few weeks since I started these sessions, it already feels like a big relief to know that the journey doesn’t just end with ‘talking’. There are practical tools available like mindfulness practices and relaxation techniques that can make all the difference in managing low mental health days.

My hope is that by continuing this journey I will eventually become better equipped at dealing with difficult times in life without having to rely too much on external help and guidance. It’s definitely not an easy process but if anything it shows me how strong we can be when faced with adversity.
