Essential worker stress and my mental health

As an essential worker, my job brings a lot of stress. Ever since the pandemic began, my workload has grown exponentially. I’m doing whatever I can to keep up with the increased demand - more hours, closer deadlines, increased responsibility.

But every morning when I wake up, all those additional duties that come with being an essential worker weigh on me like weights around my shoulders. It’s daunting - especially when there’s no end in sight. And it’s taking its toll on my mental health.

Having a strong support system is helping me get through this tough time. Whether it’s talking things out with friends or family, counseling sessions, or just taking some time for myself to do something fun and relaxing - any small reminder that I’m not alone helps remind me of what’s really important.

I also make sure to eat healthy meals and exercise regularly - both for the release of feel-good endorphins and as a way to keep reminding myself that taking care of myself is important too!

I’m determined to continue doing whatever it takes so I can remain resilient in these tough times so that I can be ready in case anything changes unexpectedly at work - because although being an essential worker can be incredibly stressful, it also has its rewarding moments too!

Hi, I hear you! It’s exhausting to be an essential worker, especially during the pandemic when it’s important that everything works smoothly and efficiently. It must be difficult for you to feel all of that pressure every morning when you wake up.

Having a strong support system really can make a difference in helping us to get through tough times like these. It’s so important to have people – either family, friends or even professional counseling – who we can talk to or simply spend time with. Taking some time for yourself is also key - whether reading a book, listening to music or partaking in hobbies like cooking or playing sports – just doing something that helps remind us of what’s really important.

Staying healthy is also an important factor in managing stress too - taking care of ourselves both physically and mentally with exercise and nutritious meals can certainly help relieve any anxiety that builds up as we take on additional responsibilities at work.

It’s admirable that you are determined to stay resilient through these hard times! Keep doing whatever it takes to make sure you’re ready for anything unexpected – this will definitely pay off in the long run and those rewarding moments will come back soon enough!
