Being in the eating disorder unit has made me rethink what recovery actually means. I used to picture it as getting back to normal and never struggling with food or my body again. Now it seems more like learning how to respond differently when those thoughts show up.
Some days recovery is eating the meal, even when I’m uncomfortable. Other days it’s being honest with staff instead of pretending I’m fine. It’s not neat or quick, but I’m starting to see that progress can look pretty ordinary.
