Some days depression makes basic stuff feel like a full schedule. I remember standing in my kitchen with a clean mug right in front of me, knowing I only had to make coffee, and still feeling stuck there for several minutes. Nothing dramatic had happened that morning. I just couldn’t get myself to start.
Does anyone else find that the easiest tasks can feel impossible for no obvious reason?

@Raymond_Meyer, the clean mug example really hits home. I’ve had mornings where getting dressed felt like a series of decisions I didn’t have the energy to make, even when nothing was actually wrong.
What helps me sometimes is shrinking the task down to one tiny action, like turning on the kettle or putting both feet on the floor. It doesn’t fix the depression, but it can make starting feel a little less impossible.

@Tamara_Hale, the “series of decisions” part is so true. Some mornings I’ll leave clothes laid out the night before because choosing an outfit feels like too much work when I wake up.
I’ve started using the same tiny-step approach, especially with getting out of bed. Sometimes I just sit up and drink some water, then give myself permission to pause before doing anything else. It feels small, but it can break that frozen feeling.
