Being pregnant is an incredibly exciting and rewarding experience, however dealing with severe anxiety during it can feel like a huge burden. I’ve been dealing with severe anxiety since before I even suspected I was pregnant, and now that I am it seems to only be getting worse. Some days are worse than others and it can be difficult to even get out of bed. It feels like my whole life has been taken over by worrying thoughts and intrusive feelings that just won’t go away.
I’m trying my best to stay positive, but sometimes it feels impossible. Making sure to take care of myself and talking with friends about how I’m feeling helps me stay grounded in reality and power through the more intense bouts of anxiety. It’s still hard though, as nothing can really take away the fear sometimes. Meditation, mindfulness and deep breathing exercises help quite a bit however, along with continuing regular therapy sessions.
No one told me that going through pregnancy would add this extra layer of stress - so if you’re reading this and currently dealing with severe anxiety while pregnant - know you aren’t alone in this journey. There are so many resources out there that can help alleviate your feelings if you actively seek them out. And always remember to take care of yourself first!
