Dealing with psychological and emotional stress - my story

I feel like I’m constantly being pushed to my limit. Whether it’s a never-ending to-do list at work, dealing with family issues, or getting overwhelmed by debt and financial strain, I find myself dealing with huge amounts of stress every single day. It’s gotten so bad that it’s impacting my physical health as well as my mental wellbeing.

I finally decided enough was enough and started seeking help from a professional therapist. My therapist has taught me so much about how to manage stress more effectively, from learning how to better communicate with those around me, to developing techniques for how to take care of myself physically through diet and exercise. But probably the most beneficial thing she has done is teaching me how to recognize the signs of emotional stress before they overwhelm me.

Through this process I have gained control over my stress levels, enabling me to talk about what’s bothering me instead of letting it control me. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but I can confidently say that I’m in a much better place emotionally today than I was just 6 months ago. Learning how to cope with emotional stress has been one of the most valuable lessons I’ve ever learned and I’m still using these strategies every single day

I hear you and totally understand what you’re going through. Stress is so hard and it can take it’s toll in so many ways if we don’t learn to manage it properly. I’m glad to hear that you finally decided to seek help from a professional therapist, that’s such an important step to learn those skills needed to cope with the stress. Kudos for taking charge of your emotional well-being! Learning how to better recognize the signs of stress before they overwhelm us can be invaluable. It sounds like you have made tremendous progress over the past 6 months and should be really proud of yourself. Hang in there - I know this is all easier said than done and it takes time. Keep up the great work!

Hi there,

I can empathize with how hard it can be to constantly feel pushed to your limits. I have been in similar positions of stress and overwhelm in my life, both at work and in dealing with family issues, and it’s definitely not easy. It sounds like you have found a great therapist who is helping you to better manage your stress levels - that is something I wish for everyone who feels the same way!

I think the most important thing is to take time for yourself and take a step back when needed. Taking care of your physical wellbeing is also so important and will help you in the long run. For me, finding small ways of self-care throughout my day are what make all the difference. That might be spending an hour doing something just for fun or taking a yoga class to let off some steam - whatever makes sense for you personally.

It takes strength to ask for help when it’s needed, but keep pushing forward – we all get through difficult times eventually. Wishing you all the best on your journey ahead!
