Dealing with mental stress – my story

I’ve been dealing with mental stress for as long as I can remember. It’s something that I battle daily, and have always taken a proactive approach to manage it. After years of trial and error, I’ve developed a few practical strategies that help me stay on top of things and give me the tools I need to be resilient in times of difficulty.

My first piece of advice is to talk about how you’re feeling. Whether it’s talking to family, friends or professional help like a therapist, get it out there because talking often brings clarity about what’s going on inside your head.

Then it’s important to break down the tasks into smaller chunks. Create short-term goals with small milestones so that you don’t become overwhelmed by everything at once - this will help build momentum and reduce the internal pressure.

Finally, don’t forget to practice self-care and make time for yourself every now and then – even if you feel too stressed out or anxious, carve out a portion of time for relaxation activities such as reading a book or going for a walk outside. Make sure you look after your physical wellbeing too – get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water and exercise regularly.

Mental health takes work but all these strategies together can really make an impact and give us the strength we need to take back control when life throws us curveballs!

Hi there!
I can so relate to the feeling of mental stress. As a 52-year-old man, I’ve certainly faced my share of difficult times over the years and can tell you that it’s not easy to manage, but it is possible.
Talking about our feelings is an important step in understanding and managing mental health issues, so making sure you have someone to talk to, whether it be family or friends or professional help like a therapist, is a great way to start. Breaking down bigger tasks into smaller chunks so that we don’t become overwhelmed also helps. And finally, taking time for self-care should never be neglected - ensuring we look after our physical wellbeing by getting enough sleep, drinking water and exercising are all key.
These strategies can all play an important part in helping us find strength when needed most. Take care of yourself!
