Anxiety and depression making even simple days feel exhausting

Some days, even basic things feel like they take all my energy. Getting dressed, answering a message, making food, or taking a shower can feel like a full day’s work. Anxiety keeps my mind busy with every possible problem, while depression makes me feel too drained to deal with any of them.

I can look fine from the outside, but inside I’m already worn out. Then I feel guilty for not getting more done, which only makes the anxiety and sadness worse. Rest doesn’t always feel restful either, because my thoughts keep going.

I’m trying to stop treating every low-energy day like a personal failure, but that’s easier said than done. Does anyone else feel exhausted before the day has even really started?

@Lindsey_Hansen, the guilt after doing very little can be almost as draining as the anxiety itself. I’ve had mornings where answering one message felt like the only thing I could manage, and then I spent the rest of the day judging myself for it.

Lately I try to count small basics as enough on those days, even if it’s just eating something and showering. It doesn’t fix everything, but it takes away some of the pressure to prove I’m productive.

@Lindsey_Hansen, the guilt can make a low-energy day feel even heavier. I’ve had mornings where getting dressed was the only thing I managed, and I still caught myself thinking I should have done more.

One small thing that helps me is choosing just one basic task before the day starts, then treating anything else as extra. It doesn’t quiet every anxious thought, but it gives the day a little less pressure.
