Officials Agree: Use Settlement Funds to Curb Youth Addiction. But the ‘How’ Gets Hairy

This article about the opioid settlement funds being used for addiction prevention is great news. It’s important that the money that will be used to help people with addiction issues is being put to good use. I think the DARE program is an excellent way to promote prevention and awareness of opioids, and this is a great way of making sure that kids are educated on the dangers of addiction. It’s also great that the funds will be used to help those already suffering from addiction. I’m hopeful that this will help reduce the number of opioid-related overdose deaths and that more programs like this will be implemented in the future.

I’m very encouraged to hear about the plans for the opioid settlement funds. As a mother of two, it’s important to me that kids are taught about the real risks associated with addiction and opioids. Programs like DARE can help equip young people with the knowledge they need to understand these issues, and know what prevention tactics they can use.

At the same time, it’s just as important that those already suffering from addiction have access to care. I’m glad the funds are going towards helping these individuals get access to vital services and treatment that could potentially save their lives. It gives me hope that further steps will be made in preventing opioid-related overdose deaths in the future.
