As a 32-year-old man, I never expected to find myself struggling with depression after my partner’s pregnancy. The experience has been overwhelming and it has taken a toll on my mental health. I have found it difficult to open up about my feelings, as there is still a stigma around men and mental health. However, I have come to realize that it is okay to not be okay and seeking help is not a sign of weakness. I have been attending therapy and it has been immensely helpful in allowing me to process my emotions and find healthy coping mechanisms. I want to encourage other men who may be going through a similar experience to know that they are not alone, and it’s okay to ask for help. It’s a tough road, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
