It really took me a lot of courage to share my mental health story with Dove Cameron, but I’m so thankful for the conversations we had that night. Mental health is something that has been important in my life since I was a very young person, and it wasn’t until recently that I realized how much it affects so many aspects of my life. From work, relationships and regular day-to-day activities–it’s incredibly tough to navigate without help and support from someone who truly knows what you’re going through.
That’s why talking to Dove was so powerful. She has been outspoken about her own mental health struggles and even more passionate about having open conversations about it on her show. So when she invited me onto her platform to talk openly and honestly about my own experiences, I felt like I could open up in ways I never thought were possible.
We talked about everything from medication and therapy, to self-care practices like meditation and spending time outdoors, to the importance of finding community and authentic connection with friends or family members who are supportive. Throughout our conversation, it was reassuring just being able to see that there are people out there facing similar struggles as me who can still find success despite their barriers.
At the end of the day, no matter how difficult things may feel at times, you aren’t alone in your fight for better mental health–and with enough persistence and hard work you can make meaningful progress in improving your wellbeing!
